Japanese sub-culture, Lolita fashion

Nowadays, Lolita fashion is getting common in Japan. We call this fashion style is sub-culture of Japan.
When I went to Harajuku where is popular place of Japanese sub-culture, and I met a woman looks too girlish. We called that fashion “Lolita fashion”. I wondered why they wear it, why some Japanese people like this fashion.

Lolita fashion is used pastel color, especially pink and white. Skirt with a lot of frills, attached lace, has girlish design. Ribbon, unicorn, heart, star, moon, sweets, and so on. They wear high heel pumps, with long fancy designed socks. Their make-up look younger and cute. The age of wearing this fashion is wide. It's not only for young girl, adult woman also prefer to wear it. Actually, 18 to 30 old people is the most common age of wearing this fashion.
The reason I came up with is, this fashion is effected by Japanese popular comics called “Rozen Maiden”.
The main character of this comics is a western doll. The fashion style of this character is similar to it. Japanese people has their own culture called "cosplay". It means dressing up and pretending to be a fictional character. My sister friend said, she tried to cosplay of Rozen Maiden character, and she came to like Lolita. I think, many people start wearing Lolita fashion effected by comic or animation, like my sister friend.

Maybe, wearing Lolita fashion style is escaping from real life for them. Many Japanese people tend to concern about how they appear to others. There is no meaning, but we have common conscious in our mind. However, sometimes it makes people tired, and they think they want to change their looks to unreality to escape from this conscious. They pretend like a cute western doll to taste different feeling from their real lives. Japanese people really like cute things (Kawaii culture). To become a cute doll like comics and animations is a dream for girls, and Lolita is one way to come true their dream.
Surprisingly, as I said, adult people also wearing Lolita fashion. I could say these adult people don't through away their hearts of "girl". They are still girl in their self conscious. They express their identity by their fashion style of Lolita.
I think, Japanese people has more childish culture compare to other foreign country, though Comics and animations are made for kids anyways. Lolita fashion is also express their feeling that adult people don't want to be "adult". Many Japanese adult people seems they don't get out from their childhood form foreign people's view, because of these Japanese sub-culture, but It's not good stereotypes of Japan. It's true that some Japanese adult people like more childish culture, but it's not all aspect of Japan. Most of these culture can see only in Tokyo where many foreigners visit. However, there is another people who likes another Japanese culture. I want foreigner to know these sub-culture is just one aspect of Japan.
